Our Goals(Goals in italic print)
I Social Holiness
A. Walking compassionately with one family afflicted by poverty…
We will continue to work with our 6th Street family, assisting them towards financial independence by December 2010. For the next occupants our goal will be that with church educational assistance they will be able to purchase the home at end of rental contract.
B. Decisive social justice actions in areas of: a. Education, b. Border Concerns, and c. Children and youth at risk.
Education: We will provide the resources, encouragement, and financial support for a strong and age appropriate Christian education program.
Border Concerns: 1) We will arrange for a church presentation on border–immigration concerns. 2) We will schedule one or more experiential learning travel seminars regarding border concerns for members of our congregation.
Children and youth at risk: We will continue to sponsor the Angel Tree Project and take steps to increase the number of participants and the quality of interaction between the children of incarcerated parents and church members.
II Leadership Development
We will annually inspire, identify, recruit, develop, and deploy laypersons, both adult and youth, for leadership in the United Methodist Church. We will also place special emphasis, with financial support, on leadership training opportunities for our youth and young adults.
III New Faith Communities
We will research approaches and take appropriate actions to have a larger faith community of young adults and families.
Realizing the high percentage of Hispanics living in our community we will develop an action plan for inviting and welcoming persons of that cultural background to our church.
